This triptych highlights the powerful symbolism of emancipation and taking
control of one’s destiny, revealing the strength of nature as a catalyst for personal
transformation. Through the lens of the “female gaze,” the work stimulates
critical reflection on the notions of autonomy, resilience, and personal
expression, while integrating a multidisciplinary approach that combines oil
painting and technological innovations.

BOTANICAL HELL #00
2024
AI generated, Oil on linen
27 cm x 32 cm
This series includes 9 paintings.
—
“Botanical Hell” explores the memories and impressions of a plant world that recalls the Earth and the
human impacts, like a fevered memory of the environment. Through this artistic exploration, the project embodies
the duality between the beauty of nature and the dark traces left by ecological trials. This “botanical
hell” becomes a mirror of the imbalances and destruction endured, while evoking the silent resilience and
struggle for regeneration.

2024
AI generated, Oil on linen
10 cm x 10 cm
This series includes 16 paintings.
—
16 little monsters have been generated through AI and evolve throughout the
series of paintings. The intention is to explore the way we perceive our own
childhood traumas in a humorous manner, viewing them as little monsters to
be tamed.

ÉTRANGEMENT AMUSANT
2023
Solo Exhibition / Multidisciplinary Installation
La Brique, Bulle, CH

What if the Instagrammable image were to crack open, revealing a nature of primal hairiness and bestiality? Distorted skin and fragmented faces would spread across the walls. Parasitic bodies would peek out amidst platinum and silky hair. In the layer cake of beings and appearances, self-perception is in constant flux, often exacerbated by social media and contemporary beauty standards. Anja Jenny’s bizarre works, straight out of a dream or nightmare, invite each individual to contemplate their relationship with their own body and image. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the delicate charm of flesh, pores, sheen, and grotesqueness. This fascination dangerously flirts with disgust, rendering this world strangely amusing. [N. Cotting]

"Flowing Identity" playfully and critically explores the concept of fluid identity in humans. With a touch of humor and irreverence, it invites reflection on society’s imposed norms around gender. Through this creation, the artist offers a fresh and critical perspective on the traditional definition of what it means to be a woman.

L’ÉTREINTE DES MUES
2024
Performance
Project created during my residency at Labo Urbain, Fribourg.
―
« L'Étreinte des Mues » explore la relation intime entre le sauvage et le vivant, où la beauté et l'étrangeté se rencontrent dans un équilibre fragile et viscéral. Le costume nude, mimétique ma peau, crée une fusion troublante entre l'humain et l'animal, symbolisant la métamorphose et la transformation.

Video performance & wearable art
Les archives de nos utopies, Manoir de la Ville de Martigny
―
A paradoxical dissonance that aims to give voice and space to nature. This performance takes on a sculptural form, seeking a moment of intense gesture. At times, it listens to its relationship with nature, at other times it engages in a power struggle, and ultimately surrenders to it.

2015-2016
Collaboration with Laura De Lucia
—
A raw and rebellious street-style performance unfolding in the heart of Paris. Ructus disrupts the urban flow with unexpected movements, bold gestures, and wearable sculptures. Drawing from the chaos and glamour of the city’s fashion culture, this performance critiques the polished façade of street style, exposing its imperfections and absurdities. A visceral encounter between the mundane and the grotesque, Ructus invites passersby to question the performance of identity in everyday life.
