ÉTRANGEMENT AMUSANT
2023
Performance / Multidisciplinary Solo Exhibition
La Brique, Bulle, CH
What if the glossy, Instagrammable image began to crack—letting seep a
wild, hairy, primal nature? Skins in distortion, fragmented faces spreading
across the walls. Parasite-bodies waving at you from behind silky platinum
hair. In the layered terrain of being and appearing, self-perception is in con-
stant flux—heightened by social media and prevailing beauty norms. Anja
Jenny’s bizarre works—like fragments from a dream or a nightmare—invite
us to reflect on our relationship with our own bodies and self-image. Let’s
take a moment to appreciate the delicate charm of flesh, pores, sheen, and
the grotesque. That fascination that flirts dangerously with disgust—and
makes this world strangely amusing.

"Flowing Identity" playfully and critically explores the concept of fluid identity in humans. With a touch of humor and irreverence, it invites reflection on society’s imposed norms around gender. Through this creation, the artist offers a fresh and critical perspective on the traditional definition of what it means to be a woman.
